Awards & Accreditations
Total Travel Protection is brought to you by Ancile Insurance Group Limited who have been specialising in travel insurance cover for medical conditions and older travellers since 2010.
Traveling is a fulfilling experience that opens doors to new cultures, landscapes, and adventures. This article will explore the importance of travel insurance for those with lung disease, such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), or pulmonary fibrosis etc.
Travel insurance can offer financial protection if pre-existing conditions are declared and covered & all the terms & conditions of the policy are adhered to. Here are some reasons why:
Medical emergencies: Travel insurance covers unexpected medical emergencies that may arise while travelling. For individuals with lung disease, this can include exacerbations of their condition, infections, or other health issues that require immediate attention.
Healthcare costs: Medical treatment abroad can be expensive. Travel insurance can cover the costs of hospital stays, doctor visits, medications, and other medical emergency treatments abroad.
Trip cancellations and interruptions: If you need to cancel or cut short your trip due to a sudden illness or worsening of your lung condition, travel insurance can reimburse you for non-refundable expenses.
Medical evacuation: In severe cases, you might need to be transported to a medical facility that can provide the necessary care. Travel insurance can cover the cost of emergency medical evacuations.

What questions will Total Travel Protection ask about my lung condition?
When applying for travel insurance, Total Travel Protection will require you to declare all pre-existing conditions. In relation to your lung disease, you may be asked the following questions:
In the last 12 months, how many times have you been admitted to hospital or been seen in A&E because of your lung condition?
In the last six months, how many times have you seen a doctor or nurse for your lung condition?
In the last 12 months, have you had any chest infections or developed pneumonia?
How many medications do you take to manage your condition?
Travel & lung disease:
Traveling with lung disease requires careful planning. Here are some tips to help ensure a safe and enjoyable trip:
Consult your doctor: Before booking your holiday, talk to your healthcare provider. They can assess your fitness for travel, adjust your medications if necessary, and provide advice on managing your condition while away.
Carry essential medications: Bring an adequate supply of your medications and any other necessary treatments. Pack them in your carry-on luggage to ensure they are always accessible.
Inform the airline: If you require supplemental oxygen, plan ahead. Check with airlines, cruise lines, and accommodations about their policies and arrange for oxygen delivery if needed.
Avoid triggers: Be aware of environmental factors that can exacerbate your condition, such as air pollution, high altitudes, and allergens. Take steps to avoid these triggers during your trip.
Have a plan: Know the locations of medical facilities at your destination.
